We were heading back from Whitney portal I was pretty young, early teens maybe. It was a beautiful perfect day. A day with family, nature, and the open road. My Dad slipped a CD in and selected a tune from Eros Ramazzoti called “Este Inmenso Show” (This Immense Show). The road hummed as the sun paced behind the east side of the sierras in sync with the song. I saw my step mother lean in, reach over, and grab his shoulder to console him. Perplexed, I looked over and saw a tear run down his eye. I knew why. It was indeed a beautiful moment and he wasn’t ashamed for the way he felt. I learned that quiet lesson from my father that beautiful day.
A man should never be ashamed of his emotions. He must seek to understand them.
A man should not be afraid to show vulnerability. He must be brave enough to show it.
The world is truly a magnificent show full of bliss and pain. Never ever shy away from a good tear. I thought of that when I took these pictures. It reminded me of that tear. That illuminated tear.
